Coco Band reunites on new tour

Merengue fans will like the good news on Coco Band. After several years , the legendary group is reuniting. Here are the details from our merengue correspondent Jose Mambo.

Coco Band Reunion

"Ay Que Chula Te Queda La Faldita, Ay Que Chula Te Queda Mamasita"...remember dancing to those lyrics!

In 1988, Pochy y Su Coco Band original members, Pochy Familia, Kinito Mendez and Bobby Rafael revolutionized merengue. Taking the genre to a different level using street Dominican slang as lyrics mixing it with constant harmonious breaks and intensifying the speed. This was the beginning of what we call the new generation of merengue, where rhythm becomes its core.

Now, 15 years after their break up, the founding members of Coco Band will revisit the hits that transformed merengue , "La Faldita," "La Flaca," "Ya Viene El Lunez," "A Mi Que Mi Importa" and sooo many more!

he tour kicked off in Dominican Republicin Late October with stops in NY and Boston more coming in November! Wow! Can't wait for the Youtubes!
