Oyster Bake 2010: showcasing top country, rock, Tex-Mex and more

There may be a dozen major music festivals around town during Fiesta but the crown jewel is the annual Oyster Bake at St. Mary's University.

The talent is always top class as are the facilities and the volunteer staff that puts it all together.

This year the fireworks include some impressive names, starting with Loverboy, Restless Heart, Puddle of Mudd, Cory Morrow, Frankie J, Bobby Pulido and others. Main entertainment schedule below.

But beyond the music, Oyster Bake is about fun for everyone. There's dozens of food

booths offering every imaginable taste treat in addition to their trademark oysters.

More than 7,000 volunteers work at the two-day event held on the grounds of St. Mary's University.

The funds raised by the event go to St. Mary's University student scholarships and university and alumni programs.

And finally, this message from Antonio “Tony” Rivera, Chairman Fiesta Oyster Bake:

"Since the inception of the Fiesta Oyster Bake in 1916, both it and St. Mary’s University have grown in size and stature. Indeed, our festival ranks as one of the largest and most vibrant of its kind in the nation, attracting more than 60,000 participants in 2009.

"Our mission statement, 'is to provide a quality food and entertainment event that is successful in raising funds for St. Mary's University, the St. Mary's University Alumni Association, and working in conjunction with the Fiesta San Antonio Commission, with the goal of providing scholarship and alumni/university programming monies, developing fellowship, and promoting St. Mary's University.” This proclaims why we’re here and what we do."
