Shock, disbelief, sadness spread quickly Saturday night when the news broke of Whitney Houston's death. These are the usual reactions when such what-was-that type news begins to circulate.
Houston died Saturday in Los Angeles at the age of 48.
Officials have as yet, no official cause but
it likely will not be of natural causes.
Loyal fans and longtime supporters will have plenty of time to reflect on what Houston meant to them as funeral plans are worked out, tributes planned.
According to the Associated Press, officials report an autopsy has been done but results will not be released for weeks.
Assistant Los Angeles chief coroner Ed Winter said Houston was found in a hotel bathtub in a room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Saturday afternoon.
The delay in releasing the autopsy is related to the processing time of complex toxicology results that would take weeks.
As expected Winter remained tight lipped on any additional details about what was found in the room by investigators. Not surprising, officials were not ruling out any potential causes of death. He said there were no signs of trauma.
The singer had a well-chronicled struggle with substance abuse and drugs.
