La Fuerza will provide the music with several special guests including Nick Villarreal, Lariza and others.

The birthday bash for Robert Rivas starts at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7 and unfolds at George's Place, 5214 Blanco Rd. Details at 210-279-7406.

Other guests tonight include Linda Escobar and Texas Latino's Rick Acosta. Cover is $5 tonight.

La Fuerza is back on the scene with a new CD in

 the works and new management.

The band, which was recently on the Corpus Christi-based Q Productions record label, is now on their own. The group has also reteamed with a familiar face, veteran record promoter Robert Rivas who's celebrating his B-day tonight.

“We are excited to be the master's of our creative universe this time around.  But in all honesty, our debut CD, ‘Ilusion,’ was created by La Fuerza along with legendary producer Gilbert Velasquez,” said bandleader/singer Ben Miranda.  “We were later signed to Q-Zone after the first single was already on the charts.  We are looking forward to getting back to that type of freedom.
