Mana, Juanes, Wisin y Yandel among Premio Lo Nuestro 2009 top nominees
Other nominees for the 2009 Premio Lo Nuestro were Gilberto Santa Rosa and El Chapo De Sinaloa.
The awards show is scheduled March 26 at the BankUnited Center at the
University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL. and will be broadcast on the Univision network.Among the artists with the most nominations were Juanes, who grabbed five nominations for best artist, album, and three nominations for best song (rock). Mana, NG2, and El Chapo de Sinaloa also grabbed four nominations. Puerto Rican salsa legend Gilberto Santa Rosa was nominated in album, artist, and best song (tropical).
Also taking four nominations each are the popular Bachata group Aventura and reggeatón’s super duo each grabbed four nominations.
In total the awards include 30 categories divided into the five most popular Latin music genres of pop, tropical, regional Mexican, rock and urban. Music nominations are based on Radio and Records’ Latin Charts for the time period of Oct. 1, 2007 to Sept. 30, 2008. The winners are chosen by popular vote by viewers.
Other nominated artists included Chayanne, Gloria Trevi, Calle 13, Alejandro Fernández, Marc Anthony, Gloria Estefan, Vicente Fernández, Babasónicos, Black Guayaba, Marco Antonio Solís, Jenni Rivera, Olga Tañon, Ana Isabelle, Banda el Recodo, Andy Andy, Alacranes Musical, Tommy Torres, Frank Reyes, Intocable, El Potro de Sinaloa, K-Paz de la Sierra, and Camila.
