2009 TMA Nominees: Emilio, Elida, Mazz
Emilio Navaira, Jimmy Gonzalez & Mazz and Elida Reyna are among the 2009 Tejano Music Awards finalists announced on Thursday.
The 2009 TMA awards are scheduled July 17 at Villita Assembly Hall. Performing at the Awards ceremonies are AJ Castillo, Ruben Ramos & Mexican Revolution, Shelly Lares, Elida Reyna, Fama, Gary Hobbs, Jay Pérez, Jimmy Gonzalez y Grupo Mazz, Chente Barrera, Linda Escobar and Hometown Boys.
For music fans sometimes it’s the new faces that creates the most excitement.
This year, there’s quite a few in the nominees list including Eddie Jiménez, Gary "G" Naranjo, Jesse Flores, Rudy Palacios, Candace Vargas, Jennifer Marie, Jenny Albarez, Monica Castro, Veronica Sustaita and Bronco Norteno.

A total of 11 categories were announced including best vocalists male and female, songs, album and crossover song. Artists and industry representatives announced the top five nominees in each category on Thursday during the TMA Nominees dance held at Graham Central Station.
Ruben Ramos and the Hometown Boys were the headliners for the Nominees dance. Also performing were Sunny Sauceda Hometown Boys, Da Krazy Pimps, Roger Velasquez and Eddie Guerrero.
Produced by the Texas Talent Musicians Association (TTMA) since 1980, the Tejano Music Awards or TMAs, recognize the most popular Tejano artists in various categories.
