Dwayne Verheyden: Accordion virtuoso to make first US appearance

Dwayne Verheyden is an 18-year-old accordion virtuoso from Europe who is making his first U.S. appearance here in two weeks. Verheyden will be backed up by several local musicians, including Rodney Galindo and Roger Garza and others.

Verheyden, originally from Limburg, Netherlands, 

performed with Flaco Jimenez during Jimenez's 2008 European tour. Verheyden is performing at Ruben's Place, 15069 IH 35 on Oct. 3. Tickets are $10.

He is also performing Oct. 8 at the Cadillac Bar, 212 S. Flores.

For reservations call Amie Castillo at 210-872-1812. Castillo, a veteran of the Central Texas music scene, is Verheyden's manager.

On Nov. 11 last year, Verheyden won the Sjeng Award, an award given to prospective/talented accordion players in the province of Limburg, The Netherlands.

Verheyden turned 18 on Sept. 4.
