City Style Lowrider Car Show: great music, great cause

Los Dos Gilbertos, family fun and fancy cars highlighted Laredo’s 2nd Annual City Style Benefit Car Show. An estimated 4,000

music and car fans attended the annual gathering on July 19 at Laredo's Civic Center. The festival's main purpose was to raise funds for the "Making A Laredoan's Wish Come True” festival.

Also performing were Boni Mauricio y Los Maximos,  Krazy Pimpz, Los Medina Boyzz, Flavio Y Los Krazy Kings, Edgar Vasquez y Sus Muchacos, Border Town Boys, Fish Y Los Favoritos and City Style Bands.

There were dozens of food booths, dog shows, car competition, live music and additional family fun. This year’s festival was memorable for numerous reasons said organizer Claudia Esparza.

"This project was worthwhile because you are helping make a child's (make a wisher's) heartfelt wish come true," said Esparza. "It is a show that is enjoyed by all young and old--you educate the young and the old, well you just bring back remedies-not to mentioned all the entertainment for one small contribution to help make a laredoan's wish come true.

"We also enjoyed and educated people about bully dogs and hydraulics in action by Shorty's Hydraulics from Houston, Texas."

What made the family festival also special was that funds were raised for a great cause - making a wish come true for a make a wisher. No other club in Laredo holds a show of this caliber or for this cause and no other event has brought so many people together for a cause like this one.

The festival was presented by the City Style Lowrider Car Club along with Laredo Mayor Raul G. Salinas, The Make A Wish Foundation of Central and South Texas.

The competition was open to all vehicles, cars, trucks, suvs, bikes, and motorcycles.

According to Esparza, this year’s show was dedicated in memory of Deputy Constable "Roy Roy" Villarreal.
