Songwriter Gonzalez-Mora: 'new BMI recognition for top played song'

Singer/songwriter Ramon Gonzalez-Mora was honored last week for having a high broadcast count for his song "Necesito Decirte."

Gonzalez-Mora was recognized at an invitation-only event co-sponsored by The Texas Chapter of The Recording Academy and BMI Latin at the Hard Rock Café in downtown San Antonio.

Gonzalez-Mora is a Latin Grammy

nominee and 12-time BMI Latin Award winner. Last week at the event, he was presented with a BMI “Million-Air” certificate by BMI LATIN representatives Delia Orjuela (assistant vice-president) and Joey Mercado (associate director) for his composition, “Necesito Decirte” which has attained over one million broadcast performances.

Gonzalez-Mora said he had a lot of folks to thank for his good fortune.

“I’ve always felt that God has blessed me with this gift in my life, and this gift has helped me be at the birth and growth of many projects throughout my career as a songwriter," he said.

"But never did I ever fathom the thought of receiving a prestigious recognition that was given to me by BMI tonight acknowledging that one of my songs has been broadcasted over a million times.

"It fills me with much pride to know that 'Necesito Decirte' has reached this landmark and that BMI, who has been my home for almost 20 years, has honored me with such a rare and distinguished award. I thank with all my heart my family and friends who have continuously shown me their support throughout these years. This award goes out to them and the blessings of goodwill that they all have bestowed on me.”

Published by Seg-Son Music, Inc., “Necesito Decirte” was originally recorded by Conjunto Primavera on their “Necesito Decirte” production in 1998, and has also been certified by RIAA with a Platinum award for selling more than a million copies.

The event featured several prominent BMI LATIN songwriters performing their original works.
These songwriters included: Ramon Gonzalez Mora, “Louie” Padilla, Esteban Mares, Sunny Sauceda, Dulce Maria.
