Michael Jackson: tributes, movie, lawsuits, SA concert
It may sound like a shopworn cliche but it's true. Michael Jackson may be dead and gone, but he's seemingly all over in a new movie, tributes, concerts, and even lawsuits.
And in a few weeks Central Texas will see concerts by the No. 1 Michael Jackson tribute band- Who's Bad.
First up is Who's Bad's San Antonio show, scheduled here at the
Noche Caliente nightclub, 2502 Pleasanton Rd. on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.
Promoter Margie Marshall of Keke Entertainment, says the SA show will start at 9:00 P.M. Presale tickets ($10) are on sale at HEB on Military & Pleasanton. Tickets at door $15; minors $20. 18 & up welcome. Arrive early to avoid long lines.
In other Michael Jackson activity there is the big screen movie/documentary, scheduled to open on Oct. 28. Check out this trailer below.
According to news reports, Chinese censors approved the film before the weeklong National Day holiday that started on Oct. 1, clearing it in time for the global release date of Oct. 28, Li Chow, Sony Pictures Releasing International's general manager for China told the media.
Li said Sony Pictures will give the movie as wide a release as possible because of Jackson's big fan base in China, depending on how many prints they can issue before Oct. 28. China had nearly 4,100 screens at the end of 2008.
And then there's the big concert in Barcelona, Spain. Titled God save the King, the huge tribute to the late Michael Jackson is scheduled at the Broadbar in Barcelona, Spain.
Presented by Vanity producciones the show is set for Saturday, Oct. 24. The tribute concert will feature 80 groups including Maxi OT 09, Patty OT 09, Diana Feria, Nataly Salim, Laia Roc, Psoul Pockets.

And then, just when you thought the only certain things were death and taxes, guess what?
Now we can add posthumous lawsuits.
Officials report two new lawsuits were recently filed in Los Angeles involving the Jackson estate and the Heal the World Foundation.
There's also the upcoming a tribute TV show,a BBC show, and two upcoming books, “Moonwalk” and “The Official Michael Jackson Opus.”
