Manuel Delgado: 'Latino marketing more than just Spanish advertising'

Marketing expert Manuel Delgado made it clear that while the Latino market has a huge revenue potential, advertisers need to make sure they have the basics covered.

Delgado made his presentation on his market research findings in his talk for the SA Vision/American Marketing Association

 titled “Take Juan and Call me in the Morning.” It was held Wednesday at the Airport Hilton, 611 NW Loop 410.

In a seminar that could have been titled Latino marketing 101. Delgado went down a list of essential tips and approaches.

"My favorite Mark Twain quote is the one that says 'It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so'."

Delgado went down a list of recent demographic statistics that indicate Latinos are not only the fastesr growing segment of the population, but also the youngest.

His stats also revealed Latin populations are growing in areas away from the traditional urban centers that most are familiar with, such as Los Angeles, Houston, and Chicago.

Delgado also stressed the importance of avoiding stereotypes when it comes to marketing.

Delgado said many factors come into play in devising a winning advertising strategy. These include age, income, education, country of origin, U.S. geographic region, and language.
