Ramon Ayala out; Pesado in for 2010 SA Rodeo

It had to happen. Norteno legend Ramon Ayala has been yanked from the 2010 San Antonio Rodeo lineup. Now Pesado is taking his place for the Feb. 14 date. The official reason?

Ayala could not guarantee that he would be

able to perform at ther rodeo in mid-February.

Ayala ran into some trouble last month after he performed at a Christmas party for a drug cartel outside of Mexico City. Mexican federal police raided the party at a mansion at a mansion near Tepoztlan, Mexico, that also resulted in a shootout where several gunmen were killed and 11 suspected members of the Beltran Leyva cartel were detained.

Ayala and his group, also with two other bands - Los Cadetes and Grupo Torrente, were arrested in the sweep. The bandmembers were eventually released with only Ayala detained for several weeks until he too was later released.

Ayala's lawyer said Ayala was hired to play at the party but was unaware that it was hosted by suspected cartel members, according to the Associated Press.

Pesado is  on a hot trail with their one of their latest CDs, "Solo Contigo" which won a Latin Grammy Award for best norteño album last year.
