Details: Bolero 2010: classic music, romantic tradition, timeless allure

According to informaiton provided by Cristina Ortega, HHS organizer, the bolero originated in the 1700s as a dance style, the sensuality and brightness of the rhythm stayed across the time to be part of the classical repertoire.

In the 1930s in all Latin America the radio introduced a new style of the romantic song. Great composers like Agustín Lara (Mexico), Oswaldo Farrés (Cuba), Rafael Hernández “El Jibarito” (Puerto Rico), were using and imposing this new romantic expression, it was called “Bolero.”

Until today, famous singers, trios, orchestras and audiences make possible the presence of boleros in all different styles: romantic, tropical, ranchero and ballades.
