Home Music Tejano / RegMex Tejano Explosion 2010: outdoor party rolls on
E-mail Print PDF

Day nine of the Fiesta 2010 celebration rolls on with a ton of major festivals scheduled around town.

These include the real biggie NIOSA but it also includes the musical gem showcase known as Tejano Explosion 2010.

Ramon Ayala canceled his gig Wednesday at the Explosion and officials thanked the fans by letting them all in for FREE. Meantime, tonight the party goes on with  Ruben Ramos and Little Joe - details below.

Despite the soggy start last week, the crowds have been huge says Tejano Explosion 2010 co-founder/organizer Jesse Diaz.

"The crowds have been great, they have co

me out in spite of the weather and have had a great time," Diaz said. "They really enjoyed going back in time on Sunday, with Sunny, Joe Bravo, Jimmy Edward and Augustin Ramirez.

"You could hear everyone singing, dancing and just enjoying the nite."

Tejano Explosion 2010 is the biggest, longest running nightly music showcase during Fiesta. It is held outdoors on the Cattlemen's Square grounds at Frio and Houston.

Tonight (Wednesday) the schedule offers La Calma and Ramon Ayala.

Tomorrow, April 22, the fest  features Elida Reyna, and Michael Salgado

And while there are blues fests, rock, country, jazz and more throughout the city at various venues, for the biggest concentrations of Tejano, norteno, conjunto power, plus a little oldies, variety, etc check out the 2010 edition of Tejano Explosion.

The brainchild of promoters/founders Jesse Diaz and Romeo Garcia, Tejano Explosion celebrates the rich musical heritage that is part of San Antonio, Central Texas and the American Southwest.

This

year's Tejano Explosion is a celebration, not only of Texas' great music tradition, but also of the vision and stewardship of two men - Garcia and Diaz - who sincerely believe in the music and the artists.

It's not everyday that you can find folks who can produce a 10-day, nightly music series on a massive stage to packed houses each and every year.

Here's a big hats off to these fine gentlemen, for their dream, hard work and perseverance.

We spoke with Jesse Diaz who explained why this year's event will be special:

"We believe we will have a great year because we are bringing back the bands the fans want to see, Michael Salgado with Elida, and Jay Perez with Joe Posada, The Garcias, Hometown Boys, Desperadoz, Jaime y Los Chamacos, and Tropa F.

"We are bringing David Lee with Chente and Little Joe together with Ruben Ramos. We are bringing in Avizo with Jimmy Edwards, Augustine Ramirez, and Joe Bravo and for the first time Sunny and the Sunliners and Ricky Naranjo.

"Then to add to all that musical talent, we are bringing Ramon Ayala y Los Bravos del Norte for the first time ever at a Fiesta Event."
