Adele, Foo Fighters, and Los Tigres were among the big winners at the 2012 Grammy awards held in Los Angeles Sunday night.

“Seeing as it’s a vocal performance I need to thank my doctors, I suppose," said Adele who recently underwent surgery on her vocal chords.

Rockers Foo Fighters picked several awards including
best rock performance for “Walk,” from their album "Wasting Light." They also grabbed best long form music video.

Singer Dave Grohl said “This is a great honor because this record was a special record for our band. Rather than go to the best studio ... we made this one in my garage with some microphones and a tape machine.” He added, "It shows that the human element of making music is what’s most important.”

Despite the joy of winning artists there was a somber touch to the awards show, which began with a prayer for late pop superstar Whitney Houston. Houston died Saturday at the age of 48.

Other winners included Jay-Z and Kanye West for best rap performance with their song, “Otis” from the album “Watch the Throne.” Chris Brown won best R&B album while best Historical Album went to Paul McCartney for "Band On The Run (Paul McCartney Archive Collection – Deluxe Edition)."

Meantime in the Latin categories,

late Cuban mambo pioneer Cachao won best tropical Latin album for "The Last Mambo."

Mexican rockers Mana captuired best Latin pop, rock or urban album for their CD “Drama y Luz.”

Best Banda or Norteno award went to Los Tigres Del Norte for “Los Tigres Del Norte and Friends.” And ranchera singer/producer  Pepe Aguilar took the prize in the best regional Mexican or Tejano category for the album “Bicentenario.”

There was that famous HBO autopsy series with Dr. Michael Baden - whose title I can't recall. But that series was compelling each step out of the way.

So what is 'Dr. G Medical Examiner'?

According to Wikipedia, "Dr. G: Medical Examiner is
