Valentin Elizalde: new CD on death anniversaryValentin Elizalde

The late singer Valentin Elizalde may be gone but now there's new Elizalde music in stores and on radio.

Now comes the news from the Notimex news agency,  that there is a new double CD, titled "Lo mejor del homenaje a una vida." The first single is titled "Deja." The deluxe edition of the CD comes with a small bottle of a fragrance that Elizalde liked to use.

Elizalde was shot and killed in Reynosa, Mexico, on Nov. 24, 2006. As reported by various media reports, Elizalde, his manager and driver were gunned down in an ambush after a concert in the border city of Reynosa in an apparent gangland hit as unabated drug-related violence continued across Mexico.

Elizalde, who was 27, was killed about 20 minutes after performing at a local fair. News reports indicated witness saw two vehicles chase Elizalde's black Suburban as he left the concert and open fire with automatic weapons. As many as 70 bullet cartridges were found scattered on the street around Elizalde's car. Police said Elizalde was hit as many as eight times.

Elizalde had been recording for almost a half-dozen years. His hits included "Vete Ya," "Ebrio de Amor" and "Soy Asi."
