Adalberto gets 15 months sentence in $$ laundering case

Top Tex-Mex singer and Latin Breed frontman Adalberto was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison for money laundering.

According to the Associated Press, Adalberto

 C. Gallegos, Jr., 52, pleaded guilty in May to one count of conspiring with others to conduct financial transactions involving the proceeds of distributing marijuana.

For the last two decades, Adalberto has long been recognized as one of the finest singers inTejano history. He was formerly with Los Fabulosos Cuatro, and later joined the Latin Breed before going on his own in the late '90s. He later rejoined the Breed.

Federal prosecutors said Gallegos established a bank account in Tampa, Fla., which he used to receive about $270,100 in drug proceeds between February 2004 and July 2006. The proceeds were deposited in Tampa and withdrawn by Gallegos in Tucson, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Gallegos also was ordered to perform 200 hours of community service.

His son -- Adalberto Gallegos III -- also pleaded guilty to charges in the December 2007 indictment. He will be sentenced in February.
