A big family festival combing the best of conjunto, Tejano, norteno and more unfolds under an expected big blue sky Saturday on the beautiful banks of Medina River.

The festival is called Tejunto Fest and it will be headlined by Los Desperadoz, Michael Salgado, La Sombra, Los Hermanos DeLeon.

According to promoter Roy Zamora, the festival is designed as a family event with lots of beautiful scenery and abundant picnic grounds.

"The festival has a lot of diversification. First I

coined the name Tejunto. I got that from Tejano and conjunto and the concert combines a little bit of everything," Zamorsa said. "The diversification will attract a wide audience. Salgado for example, attracts norteno and Tejano and of course Sombra plays Tejano hip hop. We expect a wide array of music for all generations."

Gates open 2 p.m. Saturday Aug. 14 at the picnic grounds, 3436 IH 35 South in Von Ormy. Fans shoudl travel south in IH 35, get off at Exit 141, immediately take a hard right and unto the picnic grounds.

Desperadoz kick off the music at 4 p.m.

"I am proud and happy of a new word in our industry but also a concert with so much appeal to a wide group of fans," Zamora said.
