Ramiro Herrera, George Rivas and Grupo Maravia will be among the performers for the three-day Labor Day Weekend Celebration scheduled September 4-6 at Market Square.

The free family festival will also feature more than dozen groups including Grupo Avance, Banger Broz, Mickey y Sus Carnales, Grooveland Chicano Band, Enmascarados, Los Bandoleros del Valle, Tejano Highway, 281 (McAllen), Jaime y Los Chamacos, Rhythm Kings, George Lomas & Tejano Mix, 

Jorge Alejandro y La Paz, Willie Cantu &, Starlight Band, George Rivas, and Ernie Garibay.

The live entertainment is scheduled on multiple stages and over three days at the downtown Market Square complex.

There will also be various arts, crafts, food and refreshment booths. Admission is free.

According to event spokeswoman Trina Guevara, the event is hosted by the El Mercado Association.

“This celebration is one of the last major events of the season; at the completion of this event the City of San Antonio will begin construction and re-modeling of the Market Square plaza area 


to include the teardown of the historic Mariachi Stage,” Guevara said. “After 20 plus years this stage has seen the start of many successful careers. On Monday, September 6 at an estimated time of 5 p.m. several artists will bid farewell to the stage.”
