An opera, a luau, Father's Day concerts, and a ballroom anniversary make up a busy weekend.
The "Opera Delights," scheduled tonight at the St. Anthony Hotel, is described by singer Cristina Ortega, who is in the opera, as a "fantasy of music and dance."
The opera includes performances by Jorge Pais, who will play the central character, "El Baron." Also performing are singer Hector Gamaliel, Helen Rodriguez, Emanuel Zapata, Isabel Espinosa de los Reyes. Espana Viva flamenco dancers.
And just added to the cast is Jose Rebolledo, a virtuoso Spanish guitarist.
Ortega write the opera with orchestrations by Jorge Infante.
Dinner-concert tickets are $75 per person. Cocktails start at 6:30 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. and the show at 8 p.m. in the Anacacho Room of the St. Anthony.
"The first part of the show is a full opera," said Ortega. "The second act we dedicate to the zarzuela, which is a Spanish musical."
Ortega also noted the participation of singer Hector Gamaliel, from Nuevo Laredo, México.
"He is a singer with a lot of qualities, and he is very popular in his hometown," Ortega said. "we expect several fans from Laredo (Texas) and Nuevo Laredo to attend the show."

Also, there's the Semeneya Ballroom Anniversary. The local dance studio celebrates 1st year anniversary with two days of dance workshops and classes and a special appearance by ESPN Champions finalists Junior & Emily. Friday-Saturday, June 13-14.

Bobby Esquivel & Liberty Band will headline the Hawaiian Luau dance celebration at the Fountain Bleu convention center at 8353 Culebra on Saturday.
The High Noon Music Series continues on Main Plaza Tuesdays through Fridays through August with a variety of performers such as David Villanueva, Mariachi Los Galleros, Hot Sauce, Joe Posada, John Magaldi Trio, and Jacinto Guevara & Ray.
There is another Raza en la Plaza series that runs at 7-10 p.m., on Fridays and Saturdays at the plaza. Tonight it's conjunto player Eva Ybarra with Latin Spice opening. For Saturday, it's rockabilly group Lesti Huff Band with Laura Marie on Saturday. Admission is free. Details: www.Mainplaza.org
