Critical U.S. Election
mun2: "VOTE FOR YOUR FUTURE 2008"

From the old-money guys in the East Coast, to the whale-loving, green earth types on the West Coast, hi-techies to tree-huggers, Hollywood to Houston, Dallas to Des Moines, old Anglo families to new world immigrants, the U.S. election of 2008 represents a major, critical crossroad for the future of America.

Will it be revolution or resignation?
Conflict or compromise, a new understanding or reestablishment?
An affront or an accommodation?
Acceptance or alienation?
A friendly migrant or feared mojado?

There is so much at stake - at every level - economically, culturally, socially, politically.

As in the past, so much lies at the feet of the the new, the fresh, the young.

Here is only one slice at understanding, and reaching out from one company,...

"With this news special, we want to highlight the efforts that many young Latinos in this country put into trying to make a difference within the political process," says Alex Pels, General Manager for mun2.  "We hope that 'VOTE 4 UR Future 2008' will generate awareness amongst young Latinos of how being proactive can have a valuable impact on their future."

mun2 examines closely the issues of immigration, the environment, education, and the war by following four young Latinos who are not only advocates for their beliefs, but also public voices fighting for a better future:

mun2 viewers meet Peruvian-born Andrea, an undocumented college student of Chinese-Peruvian descent who shares the experience and challenges she has faced as an immigrant student in the US and how this has empowered her to fight for her beliefs.  Although she is unable to vote in the upcoming elections, Andrea is proactive in the political process by working closely with the Dream Action Network organizations to do her part to help pass the Dream Act legislation in California, which would provide access to federal financial aid and a path to citizenship for undocumented college students.

Meanwhile, Dominican-American student Sasha fights for environmental justice by working with the organization Sustainable South Bronx, where she does her part to address the environmental issues facing the predominantly Latino community, which is statistically overburdened by pollutants.  Determined to make a difference in the environment, the soon-to-be 18 year-old is eager to go to the polls this year and vote for her future.

Back in California, Hector, a Student Coordinator at Inner City Struggle, dedicates his efforts to establishing quality education for high school students living in East Los Angeles.  Through his prolonged efforts, Hector is doing his part to ensure that students from the east side receive the education necessary to make them eligible to go to college.

Mexican-American and multi-decorated veteran of the Iraq war, Gabriel shares his experiences overseas while fighting for his country.  The soldier, who was awarded a purple heart for wounds in combat, tells viewers why he continues to support the current military surge in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In keeping with its commitment to creating programming that reflects the thoughts and interests of Latino youth, "VOTE 4 UR Future 2008," a component of the network's VOTE 4 UR Future Campaign, marks the fifth news special to air on mun2 that will bring political awareness in hopes of driving youth to the polls this November 4th.   mun2 hosts Yarel Ramos and Renato Lopez will also be interviewing delegates and elected officials from both political parties who provide their insight on these issues.  The special will feature on-site coverage from the Democratic and Republican National Conventions.

The network's VOTE 4 UR Future Campaign is part of a company-wide effort in support of parent network Telemundo's national non-partisan Hispanic voter registration campaign, "Vota Por Tu Futuro."
