Another shocking new flash, Jimmy Gonzalez is in hospital after heart condition.
Rumors began circulating as of Monday but now we finally got some substantial information.
Jimmy Gonzalez, singer/ bandleader of Grupo Mazz is in a Harlingen Hospital in stable condition after suffering what Freddie Records officials described as congestive heart failure and NOT a heart attack.
He is reportedly resting in stable condition, as of 1:40 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5.
UPDATE: 3:41 p.m.
Just spoke with Freddie Records promoter Eloy Leija.
Leija said Gonzalez was admitted Tuesday overnight into a Harlingen hospital.. He had been feeling weak and lethargic since Sunday and had low blood pressure. But on Tuesday, a decision was made to transport him by ambulance to the hospital.
However, Leija added, Gonzalez was feeling better and released today.He is asof 3:45 p.m. enroute to Corpus Christi where he will be checked by doctors at an undisclosed area hospital.
Leije reiterated what was announced earlier, that Gonzalez did not suffer a heart attack.
Gonzalez, 58, is the leader of a band that was a major driving force during Tejano's early '90s renaissance. During those Grupo Mazz produced a serious of grandbreaking albums that to this day still resonate among the Tejano music nation for the passions and vibrancy of those hits.
Those CDs were: "No Te Olvidare" - 1989; "Para Nuestra Gente" - 1990; "Straight From the Heart" - 1992.
Reaction was swift around the Southwest:
"I wish him the best in his recovery and I hope he wins another Grammy, He deserves a Grammy win for his music" said longtime record promoter 'Jumpin' Jess Rodriguez.
Mazz was supposed to perform in Houston's Reliant Arena Sunday as part of pre-Grammy concert. However the band did not show up and ofifcials said Jimmy Gonzalez has a heart condition. No other details have been released.
Mazz is nominated for Tejnaoalbum of the year for the CD "Incoimparable.'
On his nomination, Gonzalez was quoted by Freddie Records.com:
"A Latin Grammy nomination is something that all artists hope to receive at some point in their career," says Gonzalez. "Being recognized by your peers is special because they understand the amount of work that goes into producing music." Gonzalez adds, "After so many years in the business, it's a great feeling to know that people still appreciate what we do as artists."
