SAN ANTONIO--Longtime DJ Dan "Dan the Man" Segura , one of the longest running radio personalities in the Tex-Mex industry, died Monday in Houston.

"Segura was a major player in the emerging Tejano market during the late '80s and early '90s," said Jesse "Jumpin J" Rodriguez, Houston-based DJ/Latin booking agent.
Segura's brother, Gary said he and the family were overwhelmed by the "outpouring of grief, sympathy, and condolences for my fallen brother. It is something I shall remember and treasure the rest of my days.
" I knew him all 58 years and one week of his life....and never once did we cross words. I shall miss him greatly."
Segura's passing was the talk of the day at Keith Harter Studios where several Tejano all stars gathered to pay tribute to the Jerry De La Rosa CD tribute project.

My name is Laura Segura and I am Uncle Dan's niece, his brother Mike Segura's Daughter. I am so amazed at all the love and support for him and our family. Dan was an incredible man, he was the backbone of the Segura Family. Every holiday and get-together was so funny and wonderful because of him and his loud voice and many jokes. I will always remember how he would welcome any new guests to Pop and Mom's by razzing them a bit, if Dan messed with you right away it always meant he liked you...and if you could take it then the rest of us liked you too :) He was so thoughtful, would go out of his way for anyone. I wish I had one last chance to see him and say goodbye, my last memory of him was him telling me to go get him another bowl of menudo! Dan Segura was so much more than a radio personality but everyone's friend and a huge support system for Latinos and the music we love. I know how much we love and miss Dan and thanks to all the outpouring of love from everyone we know what he meant to you.
First of all my condolences to the Segura Family.
Dan the Man was one of the greatest radio DJ Personalies that I can truly say "I" ever met. The only way I can describe this man is a "Big bag of Sugar"!! He was one of the jolliest people I have ever met! God really must have needed to bring some good old jokes/laughes to his heavenly family! SO he chose the perfect person Dan the Man Segura!
Rest in Peace Dan! Houston, Texas has lost a wonderful/exceptional human being!
