Yes, no surprise.

Conjunto legend Flaco Jimenez dropped in at Wilie Nelson's July 4th picnic last Friday at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater.

According to Jesse Camarillo of Scream Magazine, Flaco Jimenez was playing at Ruben's Place in Selma, just off IH 35 that same Friday.

Across the way, the Willie Nelson's Family Picnic was unfolding that same day at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. The Fourth of July Fest concert lineup there included Los Lonely Boys, Merle Haggard, Pat Green, Ray Price, David Allan Coe and Del Castillo

"Flaco decided to just go over," Camarillo said. "He said 'Let's go visit Willie,' so we did. While we waited to enter Willies tour bus, we paid a visit to Los Lonely Boys' bus parked just across the ways."

According to Camarillo, once Flaco visited with Willie a little bit, "Willie decided to ask if Flaco would perform a tune or two. And so they chose 'Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain'."

"We got Flaco on the stage to the delight of the Verizon crowd who cheered as Willie said "Meet my friend Flaco'." All photos courtesy of Jesse Camarillo.
