As a world pop star who's constantly recording and touring, singer Enrique Iglesias says it's not easy to get inspired in the studio.

And when inspiration does come, it's rarely comes on his time schedule.

"That's why you just have to be there, in the studio, thinking, composing, listening," Iglesias said in a recent interview. "I think it is important to first just clear your head. You have to spend time in there and you have to be spontaneous.

"If you burn it in your head- 'I have to do this, got to record that' that is not spontaneity."
Iglesias will likely unleash some of his spontaneity on his "Kings Tour" that launches Sept. 4 in Laredo, Texas's Entertainment Center.

Iglesias, considered the king of Spanish pop, teams up with Aventura, the kings of urban bachata, on the new tour 14-city tour that also stops in several Texas cities including San Antonio and ends Oct. 5 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Tour schedule below.

Iglesias recently performed in Malta for the Isle of MTV Malta Special. After his performance, Iglesias was given an honorary Maltese citizenship by the local mayor, Dr. Paul Borg Olivier. Iglesias is only the second non-Malta resident to be given this honor.

Meanwhile, Iglesias' tour mates, Aventura, have become increasingly popular in recent years. Anthony "Romeo" Santos, lead singer of Aventura, has also been prolific as a songwriter. He and his group were nominated for the 2008 Billboard Latin Music Awards. They walked away with Hot Latin Song of the Year for "Mi Corazoncito" and Tropical Airplay Song of the Year, Duo Or Group for "Mi Corazoncito."

Iglesias is touring behind his latest CD "95/08," a greatest hits collection which peaked at No. 1 in Billboard's Top Latin Albums charts.

IglesiasEnrique 8 2008 324.JPG"95/08" is Iglesias' first collection of No. 1 hits - all in Spanish. Oddly, it only has two songs in common with his another great hits set "Bailamos: Greatest Hits," the title track and "Nunca Te Olvidaré."

The other hits on the new set include  "Heroe," "Enamorado Por Primera Vez," "Experiencia Religiosa," and "Dímelo." Also on the CD are two previously unreleased tracks, Iglesias' 18th No. 1 "Donde Estan Corazon" and "Lloro Por Ti."

A deluxe edition of the CD includes A DVD, a collection of his top videos and a special interview/documentary of his 2007 Insomniac World Tour.

Despite a phenomenal run of 18 N0.1 hits, Iglesias says he never feels he's done his best work.IglesiasEnrique011 289.JPG

"You know what happens, you put out an album, you think it's your best album, then time goes by," he said. "No matter if it hits or it doesn't hit, whatever the hell. You feel like your life changes, especially when you write music, you think I can write deeper stuff, I can write better stuff, I can be better musically, which doesn't necessarily mean you are going to, but you feel that way.

"It really comes down to that. And I guess there are artists that just have a lot more ambition that other artists and you just have to keep on going and keep on going. Sometimes it works, but sometimes it doesn't pay off."

Like his dad Julio, Iglesias is becoming a true global superstar, visiting countries and continents he'd never been before.

"There's still places that I want to visit. Actually Australia is one of those places that I've always wanted to go to," he said. "Even not to sing, just to go visit. But I'm the kind of person that there's always something you can do. It's just how far you want to take it and how great you are and I think a lot of times because of fear you don't try new things, which I think is a mistake.

"Hopefully I'll be able to just keep on pushing myself. I still believe that I have a lot of music in me that I want to disperse."
