As most music fans know, Yuridia was a finalist in La Academia, a Mexican reality TV show, and has become one of Mexico's top-selling artists.
Soundcheck is an original music performance series presented by Unilever that showcases a live performance by a different artist every couple of weeks.
Yuridia Francisca Gaxiola Flores was born Oct. 4, 1986, in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico but she was raised in Mesa, Arizona.
She's been on a hot streak since winning in "La Academia." Her first album "La Voz De Un Ángel, was a collection of the tunes she sang on the show. Her second, "Habla El Corazón," Öfeatured covers such as "Como Yo Nadie Te Ha Amado," a Spanish version of Yuridia: free video performance via SoundCheck"This Ain't a Love Song," and Roxette's "Listen to Your Heart," as well as tunes by Yuri and Robbie Williams.
Both CDs sold well in Mexico. However in an earlier interview, Yuridia says that achievement doesn't translate into automatic success on her first CD of original pop tunes.
"I'm still nervous. The nerves never really go away," she said. "People think what we do is easy but it is not. It can be very difficult. You're often far away from family for extended time, traveling so much you lose track of where you are.
"But I think that being nervous actually helps you concentrate on what you have to do, and it also centers you."
