A family festival to celebrate Halloween is scheduled Friday, Oct. 31 at Market Square.
The festival is called Treat Street Celebration and will feature trick-or-treating activities for children, a talent showcase, as well as performances by singers Jennifer and Jessica Espinoza, rapper Da Brat, rock group Insergo and country artist Ally Brooke Hernandez.
There will also be other entertainment during the alcohol-free afternoon. Admission is free at Market Square during the noon-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25
It is the fourth annual event presented by FOX 29 and MY35 television.
This community-oriented event will feature Yvette Reyna of FOX 29 as host.
"What makes this event unique is how community and family oriented it is," Reyna told La Prensa in this story. There will also be children's activities and games as well as five stages of assorted entertainment; from live singing performances, to different styles of dancing from local troupes and dance schools.
Also participating will be Tammy's School of Dance, Unified Soul and Varcity Squad dance troupes, located at 5410 Glen Ridge in San Antonio. Another unique performer that can be seen at this year's FOX29 Halloween "Treat Street" event is high school student Ray Brown of RB Magic and Entertainment.
"This is also a great cultural event because there will be different areas set up for Dias de los Muertos," Reyna said. According to La Prensa, the San Antonio Police Department will also participate by allowing kids to do fingerprints along with the San Antonio Fire Department, who will have a fire truck on site.
"If you are looking for a family fun event to take your children to, this is the biggest and the best event," Reyna added.
Participating sponsors include Cricket Wireless, H-E-B and the Boys and Girls Club of San Antonio.
