MonteroPabloRed_Shirt1_8x6 300.JPGIt's been slow going but Mexican singer Pablo Montero has been making progress in his most recent Miami court case.

According to a recent Peopleenespanol.com story, Montero was assigned a new date to appear in court next month by a Miami judge. This despite the fact that the judge congratulated Montero for passing a second drug test and for successfully attending rehab.

Montero, 34, remained upbeat though.

When judge Jeffrey Rosinek said he was pleased by Montero's second drug test, he still advised him to be careful, because the music and entertainment world was full of people involved in drugs. The judge was quoted: "My recommendation is that you be careful with your friends, because they could be your worst enemies."

To which Montero replied: "I think responsibility lies solely with the individual and not necessarily with anyone else."

Montero, who has appeared in the telenovela "Cruz de olvido," was stopped last August for making an improper turn in his car and running a red light. Police officers allegedly found drugs in his car. Prosecutors offered to drop charges if Montero attended a drug rehab program in Mexico, where "Fuego en la sangre" is shot.

Montero has had his share of run-ins with authorities over the years.

As we reported earlier, in an interview about another incident in Mexico, with Univision.com, Montero was frank and philosophical.

You know people are always in other peoples business, but I just want to say that I see people on a daily basis going through rehab. I see alot of people succeed and I also see alot of people fail. I hope Pablo is one that will succeed and move on. Remember drugs/alcohol are not everything in life. Don't waste a good life. I work at a rehab place and today I met with a man that couldn't even remember his dog's name. How said is that for him. I think the hardest part of it is the children that are involved and taken away from their parent's. People say that can't help to them and especially the ones that have money, but this world will do and take what they want. Pablo is a fine looking guy and I would hate to see him age at such a young age. We are very close in age. I think Pablo should stay strong and next time he decides to do something like this, think about the person that just OD 2 seconds ago.
