The Sam Houston Club at Fort Sam Houston will spotlight the band Latin Four on Aug. 30 as part of its Latin Nights concert series.
Because salsa and merengue venues are few and far between in San Antonio, Latin Night offers a treat for music fans.
Latin Four, led by singer Federico Rojo, is a promising group best described as a fusion band that mixes pop, tropical, disco and more.
According to Rojo, "Wedoplay somepopand jazz.We try to incorporate our influces, which include the classics such as Hector Lavoe, Marc Anthony, La India, Stevie Wonder, Santana."
The bandmembers include George Flores, drums /percussion; Eddie Bermudez, vocals/keyboards and Miroslava Torres, vocals/ percussions.
The band is scheduled Saturday, Aug. 30 at the Sam Houston Club.
The Latin Four concert is the latest in the monthly concert series at the community center known as Sam Houston Club. DJ Papote will open the show. Showtime is 9 p.m.; doors open at 8:30 p.m. Free admission before 9 p.m.; $7 per person, $10 per couple after.
The Sam Houston Club is located at Bldg 1395 Chaffe Rd. at Fort Sam Houston
Officials are advising fans to come in to the base through the Walters/IH 35 and Benz-Engelman/IH 35 gates.
The new Latin Night showcase is a special treat for music fans. It is often that salsa/tropical music gets a new venue in an elegant establishment.
According to manager Doug Rush, the first few Latin Nights at the Sam Houston Club were a success, with Grupo SonCache drawing an estimated 300-plus fans to the club.
Meanwhile, the Sam Houston Club has become a busy center for community events like wedding receptions, quinceaƱeras, youth and adult activities and other social events.
