"By Brian Chasnoff

Authorities have identified the victims of a collision that killed three people on Wurzbach Parkway near Thousand Oaks Drive on Saturday.

Regina Lopez, 74, and Irma Lopez, 45, both were killed when a Pontiac Grand Am crossed a grassy median and struck their Toyota Camry head-on around 9:15 p.m., a police report said.

The driver of the Grand Am -- 23-year-old Christopher Tufino -- also was killed. A neighbor of Regina and Irma Lopez said they were mother and daughter.

Witnesses told police the Grand Am was traveling eastbound on Wurzbach Parkway and "hugging the left curb line" before it drifted across the median into the westbound lanes. Police found no evidence of drugs or alcohol in the wreck and listed failure to control speed as a possible contributing factor."

"I was in shock when hearing the news that such a great person has left us.  She was full of life was such a strong person. I know that she was very close to her family and my condolences go out to them and all those that have met her because her optimism and joy was something that I am sure inspired those around her to be more positive. There are
hardly any words to describe such a great loss."
