The historic CD/DVD tribute, which features Ruben Ramos, Little Joe, David Marez, Ramiro Herrera, Mazz, Stefani, and others, honors the late De La Rosa, an influential keyboard player and studio musician who passed away last year.
Fans will get a chance to get photographs and autographs of most of the artists that participated in the historic record will be on hand to sign copies of the CD and take photographs with fans.
Fans will also get a chance to hear a ton of music. The list of artists to perform Wednesday includes Pochimex with special guests, Sunny Sauceda, Everardo Ramirez, Mariachi L, Jimmy Gonzalez & Grupo Mazz, Spoken Silence, Leslie Lugo, Agnes Torres, Grupo Hechizzo, Humberto "Beto" Ramon, Elizabeth Brackman, Fama, Jerry Adame, 21 Black, Raul Sanchez, Israel Maldonado, Gabriel, Texana and others still to be confirmed.
The free-admission party at the Cadillac Bar, 212 S. Flores, starts at 7 p.m. and will feature an indoor and an outdoor stage.
The song and video of "Te Extrañamos Mucho," featured a who's who of participating Tex-Mex music. That list also included Jorge Moreno, Joe Posada, Leslie Lugo, Pete Astudillo, Gary Hobbs, Jay Perez, Agnes Torres, Arturo Gutierrez, Eddie Guerrero, Raul Sanchez, Rick Acosta, Jorge Alejandro, Paul Diamante, Pancho Rodriguez, Marcos Orozco, Joey Martinez, Wally Garza, Elio Quintanilla, Israel Maldonado, and Judi De León.
Producer/graphic designer Jorge Flores organized the CD/DVD. The recording masters were donated to the De La Rosa family. Any proceeds from subsequent CD/DVD sales, will go to help with medical and funeral expenses.
"Jerry de la Rosa was a gentle human being that had only one dream in his life, to succeed in the Tejano music industry," Flores said. "Among the great achievements in his life were songwriting, music production and upmost becoming a great icon that branded his style of composing and playing in Tejano music."
The CD project is being released on the first-year anniversary of singer/keyboardist De La Rosa's passing. De La Rosa, a native of Laredo, was an influential keyboardist/arranger whose tenure included stints with Jay Perez, Fandango USA and Los Big Chihuahuas. He passed away at 42 in San Antonio on Aug. 27, 2007 after a lengthy illness.
Flores added that all of the artists, producers,distributors, and others, "all donated their time for this worthy cause."
The video of the song was recorded at Keith Harter Studios in late July. The tribute song "Te Extrañamos Mucho," was written by award-winning songwriter and fellow Laredoan Humberto Ramon of Luna Llena Publishing.
The musicians that played on the tribute song are Robert Ybarra, keyboards/guitars; Joey Sanchez, drums; Guillermo Rodriguez, bass; Mike Guerra, accordion; Joe Posada and Felo Sepulveda, saxophones.
Longtime radio consultant Danny Garcia (www.dcgvoiceworks.com) and Carmen Duran Garcia will serve as master of ceremonies on Wednesday.
