The news was delivered without much fanfare, and was straight to the point: Jimmy Gonzalez was out of the hospital and back home resting.

MazzGonzalezJimmyJorgeFloresimg001.jpgJimmy Gonzalez, leader of the top group Mazz, was on a lot of minds the past few days as fans and followers wondered how seriously sick he was and/or when he would recover.

Gonzalez had been on top of the news for almost a week as first reports of some illness surfaced early last week.

We got a few calls into Gonzalez to try to get a few more details and updates for his fans. But we can't blame him if he decides rest is a bigger priority for the moment.

JIMMY GONZALEZ OUT OF HOSPITAL

TEJANO MUSIC SUPERSTAR BACK HOME RESTING COMFORTABLY

Corpus Christi - Freddie Records recording artist and tejano music superstar JIMMY GONZALEZ, of Grupo Mazz fame, is out of a Corpus Christi hospital and back home in Brownsville resting comfortably. The five-time Grammy winning artist had been admitted to Bay Area Hospital on November 6th after complaining of feeling weak. Doctors determined that Gonzalez was suffering from uncontrolled sugar and blood pressure problems.

Gonzalez spent the weekend in the hospital undergoing various tests to determine a treatment. He was released late Sunday afternoon and is scheduled to be back in Corpus Christi later in the week for a follow-up visit with his doctor.

"I feel much better," says Gonzalez. "I want to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Bay Area for looking after me and treating me so well. I also want to thank my family and all the fans that expressed concern and sent their prayers."

One of the most successful and influential groups in the business, Gonzalez and Mazz are nominated for a Latin Grammy in the category of Best Tejano Album for the album, Incomparable, and for Best Regional Mexican Song for their hit, "Buscame En El Cielo". The awards are scheduled to take place later this week in Houston.

"As much as I'd like to be at the Latin Grammys this week, my health is more important to me," says Gonzalez. "I'm taking my doctor's advice and getting some much-needed rest before I resume my concert schedule." Gonzalez adds, "I'm looking forward to getting back on the road as soon as possible to play for all the fans and to thank them for their support. I wouldn't be here without them."
